Challenge

U.S. Water Services Corporation needed overhead protection for pump and treatment equipment at its Fort Myers, Florida facility. Because the equipment was already in operation, the new structure had to fit around existing pumps, piping, concrete pads, and a nearby storage tank without limiting access for maintenance. The canopy also needed to withstand the wind conditions associated with its South Florida location.

Solution

Panel Built designed and manufactured a custom freestanding steel canopy around the facility's existing equipment. Measuring approximately 29' x 12' with a 10-foot clear height, the structure provides overhead coverage while leaving the sides open for visibility and access to pumps, piping, and other components.

The canopy features structural steel framing, 6-inch square-tube columns, and white interlocking steel roof panels. It was engineered for wind speeds up to 154 mph and includes perimeter guttering with external downspouts to direct rainwater away from the covered area.
