Custom Welding Enclosure | Interior Industrial Work Zone
Challenge
A leading energy and automation manufacturer needed a dedicated welding area inside an active production facility. The company wanted to improve safety, contain sparks and debris, and create a more controlled workspace without interrupting surrounding operations. The enclosure also needed to blend with the existing facility aesthetic while maintaining visibility into the welding area. Panel Built partnered with Mark Snider of Indoff to deliver a custom solution tailored to the customer’s workflow and production environment.
Solution
Panel Built designed and installed a custom interior welding enclosure measuring approximately 26' x 13' with a 9-foot overall height, creating about 650 square feet of dedicated welding space. The structure was constructed with 3-inch-thick insulated steel wall panels featuring 24-gauge smooth steel skins for durability, noise control, and long-term industrial performance.
To match the surrounding facility, the enclosure was finished in a powder-coated blue with matching aluminum extrusions and trim. Sliding half-glass doors with tempered glass maintain visibility into the workspace while helping contain sparks and debris generated during welding operations. The completed enclosure created a safer, clearly defined work zone that integrates cleanly into the production floor without disrupting nearby activity.
Key Features
- Dedicated Welding Area: Approximately 650 sq. ft. of enclosed welding space.
- Insulated Steel Panels: 3-inch-thick wall panels with 24-gauge smooth steel skins.
- Noise & Debris Control: Designed to contain sparks, debris, and reduce operational noise.
- Sliding Glass Doors: Half-glass tempered doors for visibility and controlled access.
- Custom Finish: Powder-coated blue walls with matching aluminum trim and extrusions.
- Interior Industrial Design: Built specifically for safe operation within an active production environment.
Conclusion
Panel Built’s custom welding enclosure gave the customer a safer and more organized welding environment while maintaining visibility and workflow throughout the facility. By combining durable insulated construction with a clean, professional appearance, the project demonstrates how industrial safety enclosures can improve production spaces without sacrificing aesthetics or operational efficiency.
