ISO 8 Cleanroom and Mezzanine

Challenge

IMI Charlotte needed a controlled production environment that could support clean manufacturing processes without reducing valuable floor space inside the facility. The project required a cleanroom with reliable environmental control, practical equipment access, and additional operational space for storage and material handling. Stein Service & Supply partnered with Panel Built to create a solution that combined multiple systems into one efficient layout.

Solution

Panel Built delivered a 2,496 square foot installation that combined an ISO 8 cleanroom with a structural mezzanine and integrated vertical lift system. The cleanroom was constructed with 3-inch, 3-ply wall panels featuring vinyl-covered gypsum and a polystyrene foam core. A 10-foot ceiling height, HEPA filtration, personnel doors, and integrated windows created a practical environment for daily operations. A 12' x 10' framed opening was included for a high-speed roll-up door to improve material and equipment access.

Above the cleanroom, the mezzanine created additional operational space for storage and workflow support. The structure features a steel deck sub-surface with 3/4-inch tongue-and-groove ResinDek LD, bar grating stair treads with closed risers, and a diamond plate landing. High-visibility yellow guardrails and an integrated vertical lift system improved safety and material movement throughout the installation.

The completed project supports efficient workflow, improves organization, and demonstrates how multiple modular systems can work together as one cohesive solution.
