Project Of Month

25' x 22' Elevated Inplant Office

A food manufacturing plant in Fredericksburg, Pennsylvania, recently partnered with Tri State Surplus Company to add a high performance, space efficient solution to their production facility. Supplied by Mike Grady and the Panel Built team, the project consisted of a 550 square foot in plant office system installed on a structural steel mezzanine.

The elevated structure includes two private offices and a central conference room, providing much needed administrative and meeting space without reducing valuable floor space below. By expanding vertically, the customer was able to preserve ground level area for storage and operational use, which was an important consideration in a tightly configured production environment.

The mezzanine was designed and fabricated to meet International Building Code requirements. Access is provided by an IBC compliant stair system, powder coated in white for both durability and a clean, finished appearance. To satisfy life safety code requirements, a secondary egress point was added in the form of a powder coated safety yellow cage ladder. This exit provides a compliant fire escape route while minimizing the overall footprint of the structure.

To enhance visibility and oversight, four windows were installed along the office walls, offering clear sightlines to the plant floor below. This allows supervisors and managers to monitor operations in real time while working in a climate controlled environment above the production line.

The completed system delivers a highly functional, code compliant solution that maximizes space, improves workflow, and increases the efficiency of plant operations while maintaining the flexibility that modular construction provides.
