Project Of Month

24' x 24' Double Deck Mezzanine
This month’s featured project was delivered through John Ford with Industrial Handling Solutions in Charlotte, North Carolina. The customer, a food service packaging company, needed a way to maximize their space and support specialty equipment. Panel Built provided a custom two level mezzanine designed to meet their specific needs.
The mezzanine features a clear height of 15 feet 11 inches to the first level, which is topped with solid diamond plate decking. The second level, made of bar grate, sits at 20 feet 9 inches, bringing the overall height of the structure to 24 feet 3 inches including the handrail.
To minimize the footprint, a switchback stair design was used. On the second level, there are two 5 by 8 foot cutouts in the bar grate decking to accommodate specialty equipment. These openings are surrounded by removable handrail to allow for flexibility and safe access.
The structure includes white beams and columns paired with performance yellow handrail for visibility and safety. It also features under mezzanine lighting, powered by a modular wiring system. This system made it easy to install seven light fixtures beneath the diamond plate decking, illuminating the space below and simplifying the electrical integration.
This project shows how custom mezzanines can solve space challenges while supporting equipment and workflow in a high demand environment.
