326 sq. ft. Exterior Guard Booth
James R. Vannoy & Sons Construction partnered with Panel Built, Inc. to design and manufacture a fully preassembled exterior guard booth for Lowe’s Companies in Ennis, TX. The project was developed to provide a secure, climate-controlled space for managing site access at their distribution facility, offering long-term durability and a professional presence at the entrance.
The new building provides 326 square feet of interior space and stands at just under ten feet tall, constructed with 3-inch insulated wall panels featuring a polyiso core for a high-performance thermal envelope. The exterior steel panels are finished in Dove Gray, while the interior features clean gypsum walls and slate gray small-coin flooring for durability in daily use. A 6-inch roof panel system in a white finish completes the exterior, delivering reliable overhead protection and energy efficiency.
Large horizontal sliding windows with insulated and tempered glass offer clear sightlines, and the layout includes both a half-glass personnel door and a flush interior door separating functional areas. Inside, the design incorporates a 24-inch-deep laminate countertop, full electrical layout, occupancy sensors, baseboard heating, an instant water heater, and a wall-mount air handler with an exterior mini-split condenser for year-round comfort. The unit also features crane lugs and forklift pockets to ensure smooth delivery and placement on-site.
The structure is designed for 115 mph wind loads, 60 psf floor loads, and regional snow load specifications. Built for exterior use in an active industrial environment, the building delivers a secure, efficient workspace for site personnel.
