Challenge: High Point University in High Point, North Carolina, needed a guard booth to monitor traffic from both sides. The structure had to let security officers maintain a clear view of the perimeter throughout the day and give them convenient access to traffic while not sacrificing comfort and the aesthetics of the building.

Solution: Panel Built met the challenge by designing a custom 6' x' 8' booth with windows on all sides for complete visibility of the area and sliding doors for easy access to traffic. The booth had a brick veneer finish and a hip roof with a custom color to match the surrounding aesthetic.

Key Features:

• Exterior Lighting: The structure features 120-volt LED-style floodlights equipped with high-efficiency drivers, guaranteeing a prolonged lifespan with 70% LED lumen maintenance and up to 35,000 service hours. These lights are strategically surface-mounted to ensure optimal lighting of the outside area. 
• Steel Doors: We installed 20-gauge insulated steel sliding doors with glass panels, providing durability and security. The doors measured 36 inches in width, 84 inches in height, and 1 3/4 inches thick, constructed of hot-dipped galvanized steel for proper paint adhesion, with 1/2-inch tinted tempered glass.
• Weather Resistant Roofing and Walls: To protect the structure in the event of rough weather, we implemented a standing seam metal roof system designed to withstand a 15 PSF snow load and Class A exterior walls rated for 115 MPH wind loads.
• HVAC and Insulation: The booth was outfitted with a through-the-wall HVAC unit and R-38 kraft-faced fiberglass insulation, ensuring the security personnel inside are comfortable regardless of the outside conditions. 
• Stainless Steel Countertop: For equipment support and personnel comfort, we installed an 18-inch-deep stainless-steel countertop measuring 6 feet long, supported by steel legs.
• Flooring: The structure has a rubber floor covering spanning 48 square feet, featuring a small coin black texture for excellent slip resistance and traction within the booth.
