ISO 8 Cleanroom and Mezzanine
When IMI Charlotte needed a controlled production space without giving up valuable floor area, Panel Built delivered a custom solution that combined an ISO 8 cleanroom with a structural mezzanine above. Working through John Mayo with Stein Service & Supply, this 2,496 square foot project created a clean, enclosed environment below while adding valuable operational space overhead.
The cleanroom features 3-inch, 3-ply wall panels with vinyl-covered gypsum and a polystyrene foam core, along with a 10-foot ceiling height and HEPA filters to support the application. A 12-foot by 10-foot framed opening for a high-speed roll-up door provided convenient access, while windows and personnel doors helped create a practical layout for day-to-day use.
Above the cleanroom, the mezzanine created a durable elevated space for storage and material handling. The structure included a steel deck sub-surface with 3/4-inch T&G Resindek LD, bar grating stair treads with closed risers, and a diamond plate landing. High-visibility yellow guardrail components added a strong finished look, while the integrated vertical lift system gave the customer an efficient way to move materials between levels.
This project is a great example of how Panel Built can combine multiple product lines into one cohesive solution. By pairing a custom ISO 8 cleanroom with a mezzanine and vertical lift system, IMI Charlotte was able to create a controlled workspace below while expanding usable space above.
Special thanks to John Mayo and Stein Service & Supply for their partnership on this project.
